Cath Palug - Original Illustration (A4)

sold out

The original gouache illustration for September’s main artwork for the mail club is available now. Fully hand-painted in gouache, this piece features the legendary Cath Palug, a creature of myth from the isle of Anglesey. Said to be a giant black cat that hunts men and beast alike, I decided to make mine a little bit nicer.

I started the design work for this piece before my triple ginger surprise last month, and decided that it was just meant to be that the little cat getting spooked would be a tiny ginger cat. Considering I was wearing all black the days I was climbing through hedgerows trying to catch the little kittens, I imagine they saw me much the same way this little cat sees the Cath Palug!

What’s also funny is that of all our cats (of which there are many - we had 10 before the three little newcomers arrived), the Wiwis (as we collectively refer to them, they made the sound like the ‘wiwi’ kitten eating food in the car on the way home) have all decided that Berlioz, our Maine Coon, shall be Mother. Or, at the very least, the accidental cult leader of tiny ginger love bugs that just want to follow him everywhere and copy everything he does. He’s almost the size of the Cath Palug in comparison to Peanut, the smallest of the Wiwis.

Anyway, I digress. If you’d like to purchase this original illustration, I’ll be shipping it your way with tracked shipping as standard, with some extra little treats in there too <3
